NCIG has visited the Tiwi Island community several times and has also hosted a delegation from Tiwi in Canberra.  Photos from both the community visits and Canberra visit are included in this folder.  Apart from our responsibilities for the samples in the NCIG collection originating from the Tiwi Islands, we are also working closely with our colleagues from the John Curtin School of Medical Research who have a long-running research commitment to understanding the causes of the very heavy burden of Chronic Kidney Disease experienced by Indigenous Australians from the Tiwi Islands.  As funding is secured we hope to contribute our skills and facilities to tackling this devastating condition.
