The official launch of NCIG was hosted by in augural Chair of the NCIG Governance Board, Mr Mick Gooda, at that time the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Social Justice Commissioner.  The Vice Chancellor of the day, Professor Ian Young AO gave the opening address.  It was a great honour to host the daughters of Professor Bob Kirk, who built and protected the original collection upon which NCIG is based.
